_________ LUDI MEGALENSES_________________________

Ludi Megalenses Program 8th April :

1. MUNERA GLADIATORIA, Final match

Today for the last time in Megalesia we have the gladiators.

The most waited fights: The Finals !

It’s a hot atmosphere here: truly volcanic and an enormous crowd came here to
stand up for their favorites. Qualified are three gladiators so the fights will
be a sort of mini tournament.

The three gladiators are:

The Secutor Superstes belonging to hon.Triarius.
The Retriarix Achillea belonging to hon. Hortensia Maior.
The Retiarus Master Webmaster belonging to hon. Saturninus.

The fights will take place in the following formula: 1vs2, 2vs3 and 3vs1.

In the first fight the protagonists are Superstes and Achillea.

This is the fight of the day, and it’s more fantastic than the final one: the
one loved by women vs. their favorite.
Endless emotions, different opinions, enormous bets. Following the known ritual
the Senior Aedile gives the signal to start. The trumpets sound, the quiet takes
it’s place among the public and the gladiators make their steps forward to the
arena. Ovations are heard when the gladiators salute the public. Three are
entered but only one will be the winner ! Master Webmaster takes his place in
the waiting room, while Achillea and Superstes remain face to face for combat.
They don’t show any emotions and their self behavior shows two experienced
gladiators.

Signal and the fight starts.

Superstes fights in defense while Achillea attacks furious making Superstes do
wonders to stay on track. This one strafes and blocks the net and the trident
not hearing the public who is cheering Achillea. What can we say except the
epilogue? An epilogue that changes the course of the finals !
Achillea makes a mistake and allows Superstes to come close. This one doesn’t
loose the opportunity and wounds Achillea and she can’t continue the fights in
this tournament. On her face we read the disappointment. She really wanted to
win. Even so it will be a lot of talking about her and her bravery. Superstes
enter the final match much quicker than he expected.

Now we’ll have three hours of pause so the fights can continue in normal
conditions.

To make the time pass quicker, from the Aedile order, are coming the wagons full
of Falern. The crowd is resting and talks about the fights.

And now the Final Fight.

Superstes vs. Master Webmaster, Secutor vs. Retiarus, sword and shield vs.
trident and net, defensive vs. intuition. That’s a fight that will be well
disputed.
Living the moment the two gladiators enter the arena. They salute the crowd and
then salute themselves. Signal and fight. Superstes defends himself and study
his opponent Webmaster keeps the distance. Superstes knows very well this kind
of fight. He manages the fight in his own style: he blocks well and strafes when
it’s the time to do it. But webmaster is full of surprises, let’s don’t forget
the semifinals. The sound of crossed steel fills the arena. Superstes keeps the
distance and makes false attacks in the left wing and then in the right one.
Webmaster, believing that he caught the move, launches the trident. But
Superstes who has been waiting for this mistake, strafes and then shouting
attacks. Webmaster tries to hit Superstes with the net but he hasn’t enough time
to do that. He receives a powerful hit with Superstes’ shield in the chest and
falls down. Before he knows it Superstes’ sword is near his neck.
The public has decided: the life of Webmaster will be spared. Both gladiators
who fought impressive, salute the audience.

With Superstes winner and Triarus happy and wealthier Munera Gladiatoria finaly
meets its end and I salute you and expect you all at the next ones.

Megalesia is following the course !
